you usually start early
sometimes as early as the sun
you take long walks, take deep morning breaths
then you settle in your simplicity and solitude
a solace we know you’ve always treasured.

expressions you hardly do
but when speaking
’tis with conviction, with impression
and when you are feeling
’tis with honesty, with compassion, with love
be it laughter, anger or glee–heartfelt it always was
something we never thought
but amazingly, very you.

when night falls still you keep your silence
but echoes of prayers i sometimes hear
thanking the One for another great day
and looking forward to another sunrise.

sadly, you missed the waking sun
quietly you left to find your peace
that left us in awe but in tears
in longing, in void.

though ironically numbing this pain we all feel,
we will still thank you
we will always love you
and we will miss you… everyday.
